Hello Juno MacGuff! My name is John and recently we have been studying abortion in our government class, Our teacher recently shared with us your story. The class watched the reenactment of you first getting pregnant until the birth of the infant.
You played it right by taking the baby to adoption instead of aborting it. However, there’s a small problem that I have with the ways you first deal with things. You quite frankly should have used birth control which is a good practice of preventing unwanted pregnancies or any other form of protection. Also when you first visit the abortion clinic your friend tells you babies have fingernails and you act like you don’t care but when in the waiting room it starts to bug you so you decide to carry it to birth.
Throughout the time you were pregnant you started to grow closer to the adoptive parents of the child you were carrying. This gave you a first look of what you and Paulie Bleeker could be. However you weren’t expecting the husband to tell that he was leaving his wife. This traumatised you and you started thinking love is a disaster and that you and Bleeker will never be in love until you talked to your dad who helped you believe in love again which brought you closer to Bleeker and you became a couple soon after the baby was born. You ended up still giving it to the adoptive mom because she still wanted to be a parent even after her husband left. Everything turned out good in the end.
While watching your story unfold i noticed that the first thing you thought about was aborting the pregnancy which i would’ve done but you didn’t which makes me wonder what are your thoughts on Roe V Wade? Roe V Wade was a 1973 decision that made women have the 14th amendment to privacy of their own bodies and could have the freedom of aborting the baby if needed and wanted. My thoughts are that yeah I do believe women should have this right but it shouldn’t be misused for example if you’re a teenager and you have sex without protection you should be more smarter to use protection and not have an abortion because that would be your fault for getting pregnant. But, if you get pregnant while using protection you showed that you didn’t want to have this baby in the first place therefore you should be able to get an abortion.
So, Juno i believe you made the right choice and hope your story shows other teens just how much you could be affected by getting pregnant.
First, a big thank you!
